I spent the past 30 years working in the financial industry. I have done it all. I started out as a front line teller and worked my way up through the ranks, spending the last 10 years as an executive officer over lending. In 2017 I decided I wanted to do more than spend my days in meetings, or reviewing numbers and spreadsheets. When you work 60 hours a week you should love what you are doing. I decided it was time for a change!
I have always been drawn to real estate, decorating and redesign. My love affair with design started when I was a teenager watching shows like This Old House, The New Yankee Workshop, and Home Time with my dad on Saturday afternoons. One day I was channel surfing and found the HGTV channel! The show Curb Appeal was on. I remember watching that show and knew HGTV and the DIY Network channel were for me!
In 1992 I moved into my first fixer upper. I walked into a three bedroom, one bath farm house that had no closet space. In just a few short hours, with my tape measure and some graph paper in hand, I came up with a plan. Even though I lost a tiny aqua bathroom and a bedroom, I gained a very nice five piece bathroom and a master walk-in closet. I even found space for an additional closet in the second bedroom. During a 12 year period, I moved 11 times. Each time I moved I would redesign the space and decorate them to maximize the future return on my investment. Make no mistake, there wasn’t always an easy design solution, and there was always plenty of hard work with each redesign, but the end result made the effort worth it all.
In 2002 I accepted a position in the branch office of a community bank. This branch office had not been updated since it was built in the 80’s. Of course the first thing I did was decorate my office using my own personal pictures and accessories. When I had finished my office, coworkers started asking me to redesign and decorate their office. Room by room, I was asked to improve each space, until eventually I had decorated the entire branch, and that included decorating the entire branch for the Christmas holidays. Eventually my co-workers were asking me to decorate their homes for the holidays. Then, friends and co-workers were asking me to redesign their homes. All of these redesigns were happening while working a full time job and raising two children.
Whether I am helping a client stage a home to receive the best return on their investment when selling a property, or redesigning a home for a family to live in every day, I understand we all live on a budget. I will work closely with you to set a budget that will help make your dream home possible, and we will set a deadline for every project that will get you in your redesign as soon as possible.
My career as a lender allowed me the opportunity to help people buy their dream house. But the real joy comes when you help them make their house a home. There is nothing more satisfying than to see the look on a homeowners face when they are proud of their home and love the space we have created for them to live in every day. I would love to work with you to redesign your space!
